What Lessons Are Like

I provide a friendly and supportive learning environment.  Learning the piano should be fun and one should never feel stressed about anything.  I am a very patient teacher and I love watching a student grow.  Lessons are conducted on my Kawai studio piano.  The discipline and perseverance required to learn the piano magnifies the feeling of accomplishment you feel when you play a piece of music well and with confidence.  It’s my goal for all my students to have this feeling of accomplishment.  I will guide and mentor my students to:

  1. Get enjoyment from the music making process
  2. Set realistic learning goals
  3. Define a plan to achieve your goals
  4. Track progress and identify performance aspects to improve
  5. Overcome stumbling blocks in performance and music theory
  6. Make efficient use of our limited lesson time and your practice time
  7. Learn correct fingering technique
  8. Learn note reading
  9. Learn proper hand position
  10. Recognize notes and associate pitches
  11. Perform!  I have 2 recitals a year (recommended but certainly not required)
